My Kids Showed Me How to Get What I Want!
Dear Diary,
Why is it that my kids complain about something that they asked to do?
The five-year-old asked to go for a bike ride, (which actually means riding around in a battery powered princess car that was given to us). The three year-old was all about it and wanted to go too. I agreed since we'd spent the bulk of the day indoors, a walk in the sun sounded great!
As soon as we get into the garage, it starts.
"Mooooom, I can't get the car out, it's too hard! Help me!" I talk her through steering the car out of the wide open garage and off we go.
"It's too sunny!"
"The car is driving too slow!"
"I don't want to go this way!"
"Moooom, she won't stay on the grass!"
"I wanna turn around!"
"The sidewalk is too bumpy!"
"Why can't I drive on the road?"
And on. And on. And on. And on.
I lose my patience and tell them to get out of the car. Thinking I'm proving some kind of point, I pick up the three year old and I start to push the car back home while the 5 year old walks behind us, wailing. Then I realize it's too fucking hot for this shit and tell them to get back into the car and drive themselves back home. 😤
Wait. Wait just a second. Could this actually be the way?!! Is this how I can get what I want?! Who can I ask for a million dollars?! I promise I'll complain about it nonstop!
"UGH, I have to pay off allllllll of this debt?"
"Omg do I seriously have to plan this dream vacation that includes a shopping spree
and a private chef?!"
"But I don't want to have to choose between the Maserati Ghibli or the Levante, it's too hard!"
Maybe the kids have it figured out after all. I'm totally gonna shift my perspective!
Thanks Diary.
Love,
Della
